Cover Re-creations by OTIS: Amazing Spider-Man #101

Relive the excitement of the classic Amazing Spider-Man with this beautiful detailed re-creation of the classic cover to issue #101!!

Here is a comic book cover re-creation by OTIS- a friend who is an artist and animator and has worked in television and video games (including games for Marvel Comics) over the past 20 years.

As a lifelong fan of the The Amazing Spider-Man I love original art depicting everyone's favorite wall-crawler. Issue 101 is probably my all time favorite- loaded with impact and excitement!! This is a fantastic re-creation of that famous cover and a true pleasure to look at and enjoy!

Compare this New Original Artwork with the Gil Kane and John Romita comic published in 1971 (above)!

Above is a high res scan of the artwork- check it out!

Re-creations by OTIS: Spiderman Original Art; Animation Cel - 1967 Series!

Compare for yourself: above is the recreation and below is a screen grab from the opening title sequence posted on Youtube!

A real beautiful piece of original art!

Here is a recreation of an animation cel from the 1967 Spiderman animated series. This piece is hand drawn and hand painted by a professional animator; matching a frame from the opening of the original Spider-Man animated television show! You can see this frame on the video below at the 40 second mark:

The item comes framed and matted and ready to hang on the wall! It measures 12.5”x12.5”. It is a truly unique piece that will brighten up any room!!

Above and below are shots of the piece from the same angle (it's hanging on the wall): above is without the flash, so you can get a better look at the frame and glass, and below is with the flash, which tends to make it look like there is no glass in the frame.

Below is a shot of the back of the cel; showing the cel paint from the back. This cel is hand painted from an original drawing after the original opening title sequence.

Relive the excitement of Action Comics #1!!

Here is a comic book cover re-creation by OTIS- a friend who is an artist an animator and has worked in television and video games (including games for Marvel Comics) over the past 20 years.

As a huge fan of the Golden Age of Comics I love original art; especially art that pays homage to those halcyon days. This is a fantastic re-creation of that famous cover and a true pleasure to look at and enjoy!

1960's Spider-Man to air on internet from Marvel!

Yep, that's right True Believers, Spider-Man is now airing once a week on the internet. Marvel will be posting new episodes each Thursday (on their website) of the original, and closest representation to the comic, animated cartoon.

Here is the first episode:

By the way, they also have the old 1970's Japanese production of Spider-Man on the same site; very interesting if you've never seen it.

Here is the episode with Electro and The Lizard Man:

And, since we're in the past anyway, have a look at this:

So, enjoy.

And remember, Captain Kirk says:

"Always rub your balls for good luck!"

Farewell Mr. Shaw...

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Bob Shaw on Friday, April 10 2009. For those of you who are not familiar with him, he was "KTVU's film critic extraordinaire and Emmy Award winning video editor" here in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was only 56 years old.

I had the pleasure of meeting him a few months ago at the first screening of "Watch Horror Films; Keep America Strong" at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland. Mr. Shaw had worked with Bob Wilkins on Creature Features and was the guy responsible for editing together the iconic Creature Features opening:

At the event I had the opportunity to tell him that this opening scared the hell out of me as a small child on more then one late Saturday night.

Mr. Shaw passed away quite young. Here are some highlights from his stay on this earth:

Robin Williams

Shirley MacLaine

Sandra Bullock

Billy Crystal

Farewell Mr. Shaw, and thank you for the memories.
